Expeditions Begin: 148 Climbers Ready to Conquer Nepal’s Himalayas in Spring 2025

A total of 148 climbers have received permits for various Himalayan expeditions in Nepal. According to Lila Raj Awasti, the Director of the Nepal Tourism Department, 148 climbers from 16 teams have obtained permits for spring season climbs as of April 1.

According to Director Awasti, permits have been requested for climbing 10 different mountains so far. Among these, the highest number of teams (6) have received permits for climbing Annapurna. The process of granting permits for spring climbs will continue until the second week of May, as per Director Awasti. Nepal has opened 57 mountain peaks for climbing.

The government has already increased the royalty fees for mountain climbing. However, the increased royalty fees will not apply for this season.

Therefore, climbing fees for this season will be cheaper compared to the next season. For example, a foreign climber will need to pay a royalty of 11,000 USD (1.5 million 3 thousand 480) to climb Everest this season to the expeditions. From the next season onward, the royalty will be increased to 15,000 USD (2 million 50 thousand 200).
