Tragic Loss: Nepali Worker Succumbs to Altitude Sickness at Everest Base Camp

A Nepali worker has died at Everest Base Camp. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Lanima Sherpa from Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-9, Dolakha, according to the District Police Office.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire stated that Sherpa had been working at Everest Base Camp in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-4.

He fell ill due to altitude sickness on March 30 at around 7:30 PM and passed away in Thukla while being transported by horse to Khumjung Health Post on March 31.

His body was airlifted to Kathmandu’s Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem via Altitude Helicopter. After the examination, on April 1, his nephew Pema Chhiri Sherpa claimed the body. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
