55 Dead in U.S. Plane-Helicopter Crash

In a tragic air collision involving a plane and a helicopter in the United States, 55 bodies have been recovered so far. The accident occurred on Wednesday near the Ronald Reagan National Airport, close to the Potomac River. This has been described as one of the deadliest aviation accidents in the U.S. since 2001.

Washington D.C.’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief, John Donnelly, confirmed that divers are still searching for more bodies of victims. Rescue teams are also preparing to remove wreckage from the Potomac River soon. The remaining parts of the aircraft will be transported to a hangar for investigation.

Many people who were nearby had arrived by bus at the site where the American Airlines plane and the military Black Hawk helicopter collided. Federal investigators are currently looking into the cause of the crash. Rescue teams are working to extract pieces of the wreckage, and though it was initially reported that 67 people had died, 55 bodies have been found so far.
