Rope Fixing Teams Honored for Spring Season Achievements on Everest and Lhotse

In recognition of their outstanding contributions to mountaineering, the Climbing Operators Association of Nepal honored the rope-fixing teams for Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse’s spring season with certificates of appreciation. The awards were presented by the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, during a ceremony held on Friday.

At the event, the Seven Summit Treks Company also received a letter of appreciation for their support in these significant climbing operations.

The team responsible for rope fixing from Camp-2 to the summit of Mount Everest was led by Dendi Sherpa and comprised ten skilled climbers, including Namgel Dorjee Tamang, Pemba Tasi Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Tenjing Galzen Sherpa, Pam Darzi Sherpa, and Tasi Sherpa. This same team played a crucial role in preparing the route for climbing the 8,516-meter Lhotse in the spring of 2024.

For the ascent of the 8,848.84-meter Mount Everest, the rope fixing team consisted of Dendi Sherpa, Narangel Dorjee Tamang, Pemba Tasi Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Suku Bahadur Tamang, Lakpa Rinji Sherpa, Tenzing Galgen Sherpa, Pam Dorjee Sherpa, Dawa Rinji Sherpa, and Lakpa Thinduk Sherpa.

In addition to these acknowledgments, Sangha Nepal awarded a certificate of appreciation to a team of seven climbers who successfully established a new route on Choyu Himal on June 7. This team included Gelje Sherpa, Tenzing Galgen Sherpa, Chanhwa Sherpa, Lakpa Temba Sherpa, Lakpa Tenji Sherpa, and Ngima Ongda Sherpa.

These honors underscore the invaluable efforts of these climbers in ensuring the safety and success of expeditions on some of the world’s highest and most challenging peaks.
