A tragic stampede at a religious event in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the deaths of 27 people on Tuesday, including 25 women and 2 men. The incident occurred in Mughalgarhi village, causing widespread shock and grief.
Dr. Umesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief Medical Officer of Etah, informed the media that 27 bodies had arrived at the post-mortem house. “Many injured have also been admitted. Further details will be revealed after the investigation. The primary reason is a stampede during a religious event,” he stated.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Kumar Singh of Etah provided additional details, noting that the victims included 23 women, 3 children, and 1 man. “The injured have not yet reached the hospital. Identification of these 27 bodies is being carried out, and further investigation is in progress,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and took immediate action following the incident. The Chief Minister issued directives to expedite relief efforts at the site and ensure the prompt transportation and medical treatment of the injured. He also wished for the swift recovery of those hurt in the stampede.
CM Yogi has instructed district administration officials to arrive at the scene without delay and accelerate the relief and rescue operations, emphasizing the importance of providing timely assistance to those affected by the tragedy.
