Rescue operations are actively underway in Huarong County, located in central China’s Hunan Province, following a breach in the dike along Dongting Lake. Immediate measures were initiated after approximately 5,000 residents were swiftly relocated from the affected area.
As of Sunday noon, authorities from the Yueyang flood control and drought relief headquarters reported significant progress in the repair efforts. Out of the 226-meter breach in the dike, 75 meters have already been successfully sealed.
The breach, which posed a significant threat to surrounding communities and agricultural lands, prompted the urgent deployment of rescue teams and equipment to prevent further flooding. The collaborative efforts of local authorities and rescue teams aim to secure the dike and minimize the potential impact on the region.
