Iranian Climber Fard Achieves Legendary Feat: All 14 Eight-Thousanders Conquered

A historic achievement in the world of mountaineering was recorded on Tuesday morning when Afsaneh Hesami Fard, an Iranian climber, reached the summit of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,188m). With this ascent, she has successfully completed climbs of all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, cementing her place among the elite mountaineers globally.

The expedition was organized by Seven Summit Treks and included fellow climbers Chung-Han Lu from Taiwan and Anar Burasheva from Kazakhstan, with Nepali guides Tashi Sherpa and Pasang Tenji Sherpa providing high-altitude support.

A Remarkable Feat for Women in Mountaineering

With her achievement on Cho Oyu, Hesami Fard becomes the first Iranian woman to complete all 14 of the world’s highest peaks, a milestone previously accomplished by only a select few climbers worldwide. Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks, praised her resilience:

“She has shown remarkable courage and consistency over years of climbing the world’s highest mountains. Her Cho Oyu success adds another proud chapter to women’s mountaineering history.”

Dr. Fard, a physician by profession, now shares her record with Azim Gheichisaz, the first Iranian man to achieve the same feat, highlighting the growing presence of Iranian climbers on the global mountaineering stage.

Nepalese Expertise Guides Global Climbers

The expedition also marked an important milestone for Pasang Tenji Sherpa, one of Nepal’s most experienced high-altitude guides, who celebrated his 13th 8,000-meter peak during the climb. His expertise ensured a safe and successful expedition for all team members navigating the technical challenges of Cho Oyu.

About Mt. Cho Oyu

For climbers pursuing the 14 highest peaks, Cho Oyu is considered a dream summit and a critical final leg in completing the world’s ultimate mountaineering challenge.
