The founder of Shangri-La Hotel, Shyam Bahadur Pandey, has passed away. The former president of the Hotel Association of Nepal breathed his last on Monday.
Pandey established the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in 1961, after leaving his civil service career to venture into the tourism industry. Over the years, his sons have taken over the management of the hotel.
Pandey’s contribution to the promotion of international tourism in Nepal has been significant. By operating luxurious hotels and resorts that meet international standards, he has earned numerous national and international medals and honors.
