With the onset of the Shrawan month, the Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple in Narainapur has witnessed a surge in religious tourists. Located 30 kilometers from Nepalgunj, visitors must navigate approximately 6 kilometers of forest trail and a further 2 kilometers of uphill walking to reach the temple. The temple has been bustling with devotees performing rituals and prayers.
Yesterday, Chief Priest Yogananda Giri reported that devotees from Banke, Bardiya, Dang, and even India, visited the temple.
Despite its potential for religious tourism, the road to Santaneshwor remains challenging, according to resident Sohanlal Yadav. The temple, situated atop a hill, offers not only a spiritual experience but also stunning views of the surrounding forest and natural beauty.
In related news, Surya Dhakal, Member of the House of Representatives for Banke Constituency No. 1, expressed his commitment to promoting religious tourism at Santaneshwor. Dhakal highlighted his ongoing efforts to develop a religious tourism circuit connecting Bhuvar Bhavani in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality, Bagishwari in Nepalgunj, and Santaneshwor Mahadev in Narainapur.
This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility and attractiveness of these significant religious sites, fostering greater tourism and cultural heritage appreciation in the region.
