flydubai Wins ‘Airline with Best Connectivity in the Middle East’ for Third Time

flydubai has been honoured with the prestigious “Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East” award, marking the third time the carrier has received this recognition. The award, voted for by the public and readers of Business Traveller Middle East magazine, carries particular significance because it reflects genuine traveller sentiment rather than industry panel judgement, recognising the carrier’s agility, which has supported flydubai’s ambitious growth strategy across its expanding network.

Leadership Reaction to the Award

Mohammed Hareb AlMheiri, Chief Procurement & Technology Officer at flydubai, expressed pride in the recognition. “We are pleased to have received the ‘Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East’ award for the third time,” he said. “Since 2009, we have remained committed to opening up underserved markets, enhancing connectivity, and creating more free flows of trade and tourism across our network from our home in Dubai.”

AlMheiri attributed the airline’s sustained success in this category directly to its operational philosophy. “Our customer-centric and agile approach have enabled us to successfully expand our network to more than 100 destinations that previously did not have direct air links to Dubai,” he said, underscoring the airline’s distinctive role in connecting cities that larger, more conventional carriers had often overlooked. “As we continue to grow our operations, we remain focused on providing our customers with greater travel options, while supporting Dubai’s position as a world-class aviation hub.”

New Routes Reflecting Continued Network Expansion

The award comes at a time of active and ongoing network growth for flydubai. The carrier recently announced the start of its three-times-weekly flights to Benghazi in Libya, commencing on 17 June, extending its reach further into North Africa and reinforcing its strategy of connecting underserved markets to Dubai’s global hub.

Looking further ahead, flydubai is also preparing to launch upcoming daily services to Bangkok in Thailand from 1 July, adding a high-demand Southeast Asian leisure and business destination to its network. The airline will further expand into South Asia with the launch of flights to Pokhara, Nepal, scheduled to begin on 23 September 2026, a route that will provide Nepal’s second-largest city and premier tourism destination with a valuable new direct international air link to the Gulf region.

A Robust Seasonal Summer Network

Beyond these newly announced routes, flydubai is also operating an extensive seasonal summer network between June and September 2026, reflecting the carrier’s strategy of capturing peak holiday travel demand across a diverse range of leisure destinations. This summer network includes Al Alamein and Antalya, alongside a roster of popular holiday destinations including Batumi, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Olbia, Santorini, and Trabzon. The breadth of this seasonal offering, spanning the Mediterranean, the Black Sea coast, and various Eastern European and Central Asian leisure hotspots, illustrates flydubai’s ability to flexibly scale its network in response to seasonal travel patterns and shifting traveller preferences.

A Network Built on Connectivity and Scale

Today, flydubai operates flights to over 100 destinations, supported by a modern and efficient fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft. This fleet standardisation around a single aircraft family has long been a core part of the airline’s operational efficiency strategy, simplifying maintenance, crew training, and fleet deployment flexibility as the carrier continues to expand into new markets.

What the Award Signals for flydubai’s Growth Trajectory

Winning the “Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East” award for a third time reinforces flydubai’s established identity within the region’s aviation landscape, not as a carrier competing primarily on luxury or premium service, but as one defined by its ability to open up new air links and provide practical, accessible connectivity to markets that have historically lacked direct access to Dubai. With new routes to Benghazi, Bangkok, and Pokhara all launching within the coming months, alongside a robust seasonal summer schedule, flydubai’s network expansion shows no signs of slowing, suggesting the carrier intends to continue building on this connectivity-focused reputation well into the future.
