Despite the peak monsoon season, adverse weather conditions, and occasional road blockages caused by landslides, Manang continued to receive a steady flow of international visitors in July 2026, reaffirming its status as one of Nepal’s most sought-after trekking destinations along the world-famous Annapurna Circuit.
According to the latest tourism data, a total of 476 foreign tourists visited Manang during the month. Although July is traditionally considered the off-season for trekking due to heavy rainfall and challenging travel conditions, the continued arrival of visitors highlights the enduring appeal of the Himalayan district and the resilience of Nepal’s mountain tourism industry.
SAARC Visitors Continue to Visit Manang
Tourist records show that 229 visitors from SAARC countries traveled to Manang in July. Of them, 214 were male, and 15 were female, with Indian tourists accounting for the largest share of arrivals from the South Asian region. Tourism entrepreneurs noted that Indian visitors continue to play an important role in sustaining tourism activity during the monsoon months, particularly as improved road connectivity and growing interest in adventure travel encourage year-round travel to Himalayan destinations.
Chinese Tourists Lead Overseas Arrivals
Apart from SAARC visitors, 247 tourists from other foreign countries visited Manang during the month. The group included 179 male and 68 female travelers, with China emerging as the largest overseas source market. The steady arrival of Chinese visitors reflects the country’s growing importance to Nepal’s tourism industry and the continued popularity of trekking and nature-based experiences among international travelers.
Monsoon Challenges Fail to Deter Visitors
Heavy rainfall, landslides, and periodic road disruptions affected travel across several parts of the Annapurna region during July. Nevertheless, Manang continued to attract adventure enthusiasts eager to experience its spectacular mountain scenery, traditional villages, Buddhist monasteries, and high-altitude trekking trails.
Tourism stakeholders believe that the consistent visitor flow during one of the year’s most challenging travel seasons demonstrates the destination’s strong international reputation and the resilience of Nepal’s trekking industry. With the arrival of the autumn trekking season expected in the coming months, local tourism businesses remain optimistic that tourist arrivals will increase significantly, providing a major boost to hotels, teahouses, guides, porters, and other tourism-related enterprises in the region.
