Qatar Airways and WestJet Partner to Expand Travel Connections Across Canada

Qatar Airways has announced a new codeshare partnership with Canadian airline WestJet, expanding travel options for passengers travelling to and from Canada. Under the agreement, Qatar Airways will place its QR flight code on selected WestJet operated flights, allowing travellers to access additional Canadian destinations through the two airlines’ networks.

The partnership is intended to improve connectivity for passengers traveling through Toronto Pearson International Airport and Montréal Trudeau International Airport. It will give Qatar Airways customers more options for reaching cities across Canada while strengthening links between the country and international markets served by the Qatari carrier.

Passengers Gain Access to More Canadian Destinations

Through the partnership, Qatar Airways passengers will be able to connect through Toronto and Montréal to destinations including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, St. John’s and Winnipeg. The additional connections will make it easier for international travellers to reach cities beyond Canada’s main international gateways.

The agreement also creates opportunities for WestJet passengers to connect with Qatar Airways’ extensive international network. Destinations served by Qatar Airways include New Delhi, Nairobi, Singapore and Jeddah, offering travellers more potential routes for business, leisure and visits to family and friends. Availability will depend on the routes and booking arrangements covered by the partnership.

Qatar Airways Increases Flights to Canada

The codeshare announcement accompanies Qatar Airways’ expansion of its own services to Canada. The airline plans to increase its weekly flights from 12 to 14 beginning October 25, 2026, with both Toronto and Montréal receiving daily services. The additional frequencies are expected to provide more scheduling options for passengers travelling between Canada and Qatar.

The increased services, combined with access to WestJet’s domestic network, strengthen Qatar Airways’ presence in the Canadian market. For travellers, more frequent international flights and additional connecting options can provide greater flexibility when planning journeys, although specific routes and schedules remain subject to airline availability.

Partnership Strengthens International Travel Connectivity

Codeshare agreements allow airlines to market selected flights operated by their partner carriers, helping them offer connections beyond the destinations they serve directly. For Qatar Airways and WestJet, the arrangement brings together Qatar Airways’ international reach and WestJet’s network across Canada, creating additional travel possibilities for passengers.

The partnership forms part of the airlines’ efforts to broaden their reach through cooperation rather than relying solely on operating their own aircraft on every route. As international travel demand continues to shape airline networks, such agreements can help connect major aviation hubs with regional destinations and give passengers more options when planning multi city journeys.
