Flood-Induced Landslides Devastate Khumbu Pasanglhamu, Impacting Tourism and Infrastructure

Severe flooding has caused extensive damage in the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, particularly affecting the Tok Tok area. According to local authorities, three houses in Tok Tok were destroyed, and four additional homes are at significant risk of landslides. The Namche tourist trail has also been impacted, but a temporary alternative route has been established with the combined efforts of residents, the Nepali Army, and the police.

The landslides have damaged key transportation routes, including the road from Jorasalle to Larcha Dobhan and from Thadokoshi to Yuling (Ghat). Several settlements, including Tok Tok, Bengkar, Phakding, Yulnging, Lhowa, and Chermading, are now considered to be at high risk due to the ongoing flood-induced landslides. Travelers planning to visit the region should be aware of these disruptions and check for updates on travel conditions.
