Landslides Block Key National Highways Across Nepal, Affecting Tourist Access

Landslides have caused significant disruptions on Nepal’s national highways, impacting travel and tourism across several regions. According to the Department of Roads, seven major sections of the national highway network have been completely blocked, including critical routes such as the NH09 section of the Madan Bhandari Highway in Pyuthan, the Bhaluwang-Liwang-Rolpa-Madichour-Darbot segment in Garjeni, and the Chatara-Mulghat-Majhitar-Amapu Danda-Ganeshchowk highway in Morang from Chatara Bridge to Barahkshetra.

Additionally, the Galje section of the Dhungeshwar-Manma-Nagma-Jumla highway in Kalikot, the Yalambar road section at Panchthar of the Pushpalal Mid-hill highway, the Tansen-Ridi-Korala highway near Achcheswar Cave in Gulmi, and the Chorkhola road section in Salyan of the Rapti highway have also been rendered impassable. While 244 road sections remain operational for one-way traffic, travelers should anticipate delays and check road conditions before planning their journeys to avoid disruptions in their travel and tourism activities.
