Sindhu-Sukute Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association Launches Trekking Trail Campaign to Explore Sukute Corridor

Sindhupalchok, a district known for its tourist destination ‘Sukute Corridor,’ has recently seen a new initiative to explore the surrounding tourist attractions. The Sindhu-Sukute Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association has launched a trekking trail campaign aimed at uncovering and promoting the tourist destinations around Sukute. This campaign was started nearly two months after the formation of the association.

Mahendra Singh Thapa, the President of the association, shared that the campaign’s primary goal is to guide tourists visiting Sukute to explore nearby tourist sites. A team consisting of association officials, hotel and resort operators successfully completed a trekking route from Sukute, via the viewpoint at Thamdanda, to Thokarpa Baghbhairav.

Kumar Shahi, the Ward Chairperson of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1, mentioned that the trekking route passes through a community forest located in Thokarpa. The trail also includes a 600-meter section carved out of stone, extending from the International Forest Research Center to Thamdanda. The remaining three kilometers of the trail, which passes through the community forest up to the viewpoint, will soon be completed, according to Shahi.

Anjan Khadka, Vice President of the Sindhu-Sukute Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association, highlighted that tourists staying in Sukute can visit several attractions such as the Milldanda, Buddha Park, and the Chamero Cave via the viewpoint at Thamdanda. Additionally, the area around Thokarpa is home to Sindhupalchok’s longest suspension bridge connecting the district with Kavre, the Titre Mahankal Temple, Baghbhairav, Bhainsikhola, the talking rock at Akkare Cliff, and the Jamune Pahari settlement. These spots are expected to further boost the tourism appeal of the Sukute Corridor.
