The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has appointed Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Regmi as the new Director General of the Department of Tourism. Regmi officially took over the position following the transfer of former Director General Rudra Prasad Pandit, who has been reassigned to the National Planning Commission.
Regmi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served in various ministries, including Labor, Employment, and Social Security; Industry, Trade, and Supply; and Federal Affairs and General Administration. His most recent position was in the Ministry of General Administration before being transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation in the August 16 Cabinet meeting (Shrawan 31).
This appointment comes at a critical time as the tourism sector looks to recover and grow in the post-pandemic era. Regmi’s extensive administrative background is expected to play a significant role in revitalizing tourism and addressing the challenges the sector faces.
