Tourism Minister Calls for Unified Effort to Overcome National Challenges

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, emphasized the need for unity between two major political parties, the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), to resolve national issues and push for the country’s development.

Speaking at the 34th-anniversary celebration of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Minister Pandey expressed that both parties have come together to address the challenges faced by the country. “We want to unite and solve all problems together,” he said. “Our goal is to work in collaboration with other parties, including the Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, and Rastriya Swatantra Party. This alliance is not about dominating the political space but focusing on solving the nation’s problems.”

Minister Pandey highlighted that this is not the time for political conflict and division but a time for all parties to come together for the country’s progress. “Once the nation is stable, we can engage in political competition. Let’s work together until 2084 B.S. to set Nepal on a stable course. After that, we can focus on clean competition with a stable government and economy,” he stated.

Pandey further shared optimism regarding the upcoming parliamentary session, during which legislation related to tourism and civil aviation is expected to be passed. He believes this will invigorate the tourism sector. The minister also noted his focus on revising cultural, tourism, and aviation policies, and enhancing the capabilities of Nepal Airlines Corporation to ensure a safer aviation sector.

At the event, former Minister for Tourism Bhim Acharya stressed the need to prioritize tourism infrastructure to attract one million tourists over the next ten years. He highlighted the importance of operating major airports and strengthening Nepal Airlines.

Former Tourism Minister Bal Bahadur KC underscored the need for a clear and time-relevant tourism policy, urging tourism entrepreneurs to work towards developing the sector as an industry.
