Manaslu Expedition: Rope Fixing Completed for Autumn Season

The rope fixing for the autumn season on Manaslu Himal has been completed. The task of fixing ropes up to the summit of Manaslu was entrusted to Seven Summit Trek company. This responsibility was assigned under the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal (EOA-Nepal).

The rope fixing team, led by Chang Dawa Sherpa, the Expedition Manager at Seven Summit Trek, has now finished their work. The team included prominent Sherpas such as Pam Dorjee Sherpa, Namgel Sherpa, Nima Tashi Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa (Speed Dawa), Pemba Tashi Sherpa, and Srijan Gbu Sherpa, who completed the task of installing ropes up to the summit of Manaslu.

According to Lakpa Sherpa (Makalu Lakpa), co-leader of the rope fixing team, the ropes were fixed by 3:30 PM today, making the Manaslu summit accessible for climbers this autumn season.

Currently, the Department of Tourism has issued climbing permits for ten peaks, including Manaslu. Last season, 301 climbers obtained permits for Manaslu, whereas this season, 308 climbers have secured permits for this eighth-highest mountain in the world.

Rakesh Gurung, Director of the Adventure Tourism and Mountaineering Branch at the Department of Tourism, reported that climbing permits have been issued for Manaslu, Putha Hiunchuli, Annapurna IV, Thakar Go East, Dhaulagiri, Phungi, Kumbhakarna, Araniko Chuli, Api, and Makalu. A total of 362 climbers (274 men and 88 women) from 54 countries have received permits for these peaks. The collected revenue from these permits amounts to NPR 45,245,848.

Gurung noted that climbers from China, the USA, Russia, the UK, Japan, Germany, Kazakhstan, and India have prominently applied for permits this year.
