Minister Badri Prasad Pandey Emphasizes Accountability in Public Service on Tourism Day

On the occasion of Tourism Day, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, stated that employees who fail to perform their duties should not retain their positions. Speaking at an event in Kathmandu, he emphasized that no leader should remain in their role if they are unable to contribute effectively.

Minister Pandey asserted, “If I cannot work as a minister, I have no right to remain in this position for even a minute.” He urged that any head of an organization lacking the ability to perform should not occupy their role. He highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the diverse culture and natural beauty of the country while aiming to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the ministry cannot function effectively without the active participation of the private sector, which should take the lead while the ministry supports from behind. Pandey also announced that the upcoming winter session will be historic for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, as it will focus on enacting laws related to air policy, tourism, and cultural policy changes.

The minister added, “I must demonstrate moral strength to step down from my ministerial role if I cannot contribute effectively. This is a call to all heads of organizations and their teams.” He urged the private sector to prioritize patriotism and national interests when formulating policies and laws, affirming that the government is fully supportive of the private sector’s endeavors.
