A 63-year-old Swiss tourist, Marcus Ceslar, has tragically passed away in Manang, likely due to altitude sickness. The incident occurred while Ceslar was en route to Chulu Forest in the Ngisyang-3 area, according to local authorities.
The District Police Office in Manang confirmed that Ceslar, holding Swiss passport S 088518, decided to camp overnight at Yakkharka on Friday. His lifeless body was discovered the following morning, with a security guard suggesting altitude sickness as the likely cause of death.
Police inspector Rajendra Bahadur KC of the District Police Office stated that authorities only learned of the incident late in the afternoon on Saturday. At the time of the report, preparations were underway to airlift Ceslar’s body to Kathmandu via helicopter.
In addition to this tragic incident, police reported rescuing 10 foreign tourists and 23 Nepali citizens from the area on Saturday due to worsening conditions.
