The Gosainkunda region has experienced its first snowfall of the season, with snow reported in higher elevations, including Lauribinayak and Yarsa’s Sadhdhar area, according to residents.
Mengmar Thing Tamang, the acting Ward Chairperson of Naukund Rural Municipality-3, confirmed that with the onset of snowfall, temperatures have dropped significantly in several villages, including Doklang, Rajang, Singbendi, Larchyantar, Baccha, Lokil, and Nerkudanda. The cold has notably increased in these areas, impacting daily life.
“With the cold, there has been a rise in cases of colds and coughs, especially among children and the elderly,” stated Tamang.
Despite the cold, locals are optimistic about the positive impact of early snowfall on winter crops. Gormen Tamang, a young resident of Yarsa Doklang, expressed hope that the snowfall will result in a productive harvest this year.
