Aiming to promote both domestic and international tourism, a Newa Street Food Festival has been organized in Tokha, located in the northern part of Kathmandu.
The festival, held today, is organized by Tokha Municipality Wards 2 and 3, in collaboration with the Newa Guthi and Tokha Cultural Heritage Conservation Area Development Committee. The festival spans from Tokha Gate to Ganeshsthan Temple, featuring a variety of cultural programs alongside the street food event, according to Ramesh Napit, Chair of Tokha Newa Guthi.
Napit shared that the festival aims to highlight Tokha’s potential as a tourist destination, appealing to both domestic and international visitors. With its rich religious, cultural, historical, and touristic significance, Tokha is showcasing local delicacies prepared by community members as well as traditional handicrafts created by local artisans.
The event not only celebrates the unique heritage of Tokha but also supports the local economy by providing a platform for residents to display and sell their handmade goods, contributing to Tokha’s visibility as a vibrant cultural hub.
