Lamjung’s Marsyangdi Rural Municipality successfully concluded the second Jagat Tatopani Kunda Festival today, as part of the ongoing Marsyangdi Festival. The event, organized under the chairmanship of Adam Singh Gurung, head of the Jagat Tatopani Management Committee, aimed to promote tourism centered around the Jagat Tatopani Kunda hot spring, according to the municipality.
Speaking at the event, Arjun Gurung, Chairperson of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, emphasized the significance of such religious and cultural festivals in preserving local art, culture, and traditions while enhancing the visibility of tourist destinations on a global scale. He noted that the festival not only promotes tourism but also boosts local economic activities through the sale and marketing of local products, driving the region’s economy forward.
The festival was a collaborative effort involving various organizations and showcased cultural performances reflecting local traditions, including the Maruni dance. Guests were also invited to participate in a bathing ceremony at the hot spring. The event attracted both domestic and international tourists, given its location on a popular trekking route.
Prominent attendees included Vice Chairperson Juna Maya Thapa, Chief Administrative Officer Arjun Chapai, Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Bharat Kumar Shrestha, ward chairpersons, executive members, local political representatives, members of the Lamjung Visit Year 2081 committee, principals and teachers from local schools, security personnel, and active journalists from the district.
The event highlighted the festival’s role in economic, social, and tourism-driven development for the municipality, with participants expressing confidence in its positive impact on the region.
