A detailed study has been conducted for the promotion of the Nilkantheshwar Siddheshwar Cave, located in Paire, Myagde Rural Municipality-7. The technical team of Myagde Rural Municipality prepared the report from Mangsir 9 to 12, outlining plans for its development as a tourist destination.
According to Shree Bhadra Acharya, Chairman of the Nilkantheshwar Mahadev Siddheshwar Cave Management Committee, the study was carried out with the aim of turning the site into a prominent tourist attraction. Although the area holds significant tourism potential, it has remained overlooked due to a lack of publicity. The locals have now come together to promote it as a religious destination, highlighting its tourism potential.
Acharya emphasized the need for conservation and promotion of the cave, which has been largely forgotten due to the lack of infrastructure and awareness. “The cave has been here for many years, but it remained unknown until now. We have focused on raising awareness through social media. We have also requested the local government’s support for infrastructure development and exposure of its potential,” he said.
In an exciting development, the cave recently revealed several religious structures, including a Shivling, Ganesh, Nag, and Shankha. Acharya shared, “We were unaware of the Shivling inside the cave until we discovered it during our visit. Water naturally drips from a stone above the Shivling onto it. The presence of the Shivling indicates its religious significance.”
Locals believe that Lord Shiva once resided in the area, and there are also 108 Bel trees surrounding the site, further reinforcing this belief. Acharya added, “It is clear that Lord Shiva once inhabited this place. We are committed to its conservation and promotion.”
The local government has also shown interest in promoting the cave. Shreeprasad Shrestha, Chairman of Myagde Rural Municipality, stated that the municipality would include the cave as part of its official tourism sites and provide support for its management. “The municipality is committed to supporting the promotion, infrastructure development, and overall development of all tourism sites within the area. We will continue to provide assistance for the growth of this site,” he assured.
This initiative is expected to boost local tourism and preserve the cultural and religious significance of the Siddheshwar Cave.
