Aina Pahara Emerges as a Major Tourist Hub

The main tourist attraction of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, Aina Pahara, has achieved a remarkable milestone by generating Rs. 6 million in revenue during the last fiscal year. Situated at the boundary of Aanbukhaireni Wards 2 and 4, this emerging destination has rapidly gained popularity among both local and domestic tourists.

According to the rural municipality, the revenue was collected primarily from entry tickets and tourism-related activities within the park. Visitors are charged Rs. 50 for locals and Rs. 100 for outsiders, a move that has helped the local government strengthen its internal revenue base while simultaneously promoting the area as a sustainable tourism site.

Chairman Shukra Chuman of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality stated that the development of Aina Pahara Park was part of a long-term plan to diversify the rural economy through tourism. “We have invested significantly in infrastructure to make Aina Pahara a well-managed and appealing tourist destination,” he said.

Investment in Infrastructure and Park Development

To enhance the area’s appeal, the rural municipality invested Rs. 20 million to develop various infrastructure and amenities around the park. The investment covered facilities such as walking trails, viewpoints, resting areas, and artistic stone carvings that give the site its unique character.

Aina Pahara Park, conveniently located along the Prithvi Highway, has become increasingly popular, especially on weekends and public holidays. The site’s proximity to the highway makes it a convenient stop for travelers, while its scenic views and cultural artistry draw families, youth, and photography enthusiasts.

Ward Chairperson Ash Bahadur Gurung of Aanbukhaireni Ward No. 2 shared that more than 1,000 visitors arrive every Saturday, indicating the site’s growing influence on the local tourism economy. “This place has quickly become a favorite among visitors because of its accessibility and artistic beauty,” he said.

A Cultural and Artistic Landmark

One of Aina Pahara’s defining features is its artistic stone carvings, which have transformed the area into an open-air gallery. The stones around the waterfall are intricately sculpted with figures representing Ganesh, a mother and child, and an angel, giving the site both a spiritual and aesthetic charm.

“The rural municipality has promoted this location as a cultural and recreational destination,” Gurung added. “The carvings, combined with the natural waterfall and surrounding greenery, create a peaceful atmosphere that appeals to a wide range of visitors.” The site’s name “Aina Pahara,” meaning “Mirror Cliff,” reflects the shimmering effect of the waterfall as sunlight bounces off the wet stones, a sight that adds to its allure.

Introducing the Skywalk: A New Thrill for Visitors

In a bid to attract even more tourists, the rural municipality inaugurated a Skywalk on July 19, 2025, introducing an adventurous experience high above the landscape. The skywalk, developed with a Rs. 1.5 million investment, has quickly become one of Aina Pahara’s main attractions.

The structure, 50 meters high and 57 meters long, is designed with a one-foot gap between each step, allowing visitors to look directly down at the flowing Siundhi River beneath. The experience offers an exhilarating view of the waterfall and the surrounding hills, including the majestic Chimkeshwari range, the tallest in Tanahun district. The skywalk entry fee is set at Rs. 250, and it has already attracted a significant number of domestic tourists seeking a unique adventure combined with scenic beauty.

Master Plan for Sustainable Development

To ensure the long-term growth and preservation of Aina Pahara, the rural municipality has completed a detailed master plan report for the management and sustainable development of the site. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), a total of Rs. 100 million will be required to fully implement the proposed development and conservation works.

The plan includes the construction of several key facilities such as a large Buddha statue, proper fencing, parking areas, resting zones, and waste management systems. The goal is to transform Aina Pahara into a well-equipped and environmentally responsible tourist destination that can host larger numbers of visitors without compromising its natural beauty.

Chairman Chuman emphasized that the municipality’s vision is not only to boost tourism revenue but also to create local employment opportunities and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the area. “We are focusing on sustainable development that benefits both the community and the environment,” he noted.

A Bright Future for Aina Pahara Tourism

With increasing visitor numbers, improved facilities, and a growing reputation as a scenic and adventurous destination, Aina Pahara is steadily establishing itself as one of Tanahun’s premier tourist attractions. The combination of natural beauty, artistic elements, and new attractions like the skywalk is helping to position Aanbukhaireni as a model for rural tourism development in Nepal.

As the municipality continues to implement its master plan and invest in further improvements, Aina Pahara stands poised to become a centerpiece of domestic tourism, offering not only breathtaking views but also a meaningful example of how local governance and community participation can drive sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
