Emergency U-Turn: Air India Flight Faces Unexpected Setback

An Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi was forced to return to Chicago due to a technical issue with the aircraft’s toilets. The flight, AI126, departed from Chicago on March 6, 2025, bound for Delhi, but after nearly 10 hours in the air, the aircraft had to return to Chicago.

According to reports, 11 out of the 12 toilets on board the aircraft were out of service, creating significant discomfort for the 300 passengers. Only one toilet in the business class section was functioning. This issue led to the flight’s return to Chicago for safety and comfort reasons.

Upon landing in Chicago, Air India provided accommodation support to both the passengers and the crew. The airline also made alternative travel arrangements for the passengers, and all affected passengers were offered refunds for the canceled flight.

Air India issued a statement confirming that the flight was returned due to the technical issue with the toilets and assured passengers that appropriate measures were taken to address the inconvenience. The airline has yet to clarify whether the issue has been resolved for the aircraft or when the passengers were rescheduled for their journey. The incident highlighted the importance of onboard facilities and the airline’s response to ensuring passenger comfort.
