An important agreement has been signed between the Alberta Nepal Chamber of Commerce (ANCC) and the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) to effectively promote Nepal’s tourism in Canada. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent representatives from both organizations, marking a significant step in strengthening Nepal’s tourism presence abroad.
The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing event marked a significant step in promoting Nepal’s tourism in Canada. Representing the Association of Nepali-Canadian Community (ANCC) were President Mr. Samir Pandey and Vice President Mr. Dibas Dhakal, while Tribhuvan University was represented by Dr. Pashupati Neupane.
The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) delegation was led by its President, Mr. Sagar Pandey, along with General Secretary Mr. Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, CEO Mr. Ram Chandra Sedai, and other executive members. The collaboration is centered on showcasing Nepal’s breathtaking natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and adventure tourism opportunities, which form the backbone of the country’s tourism industry.
A key objective of this partnership is to attract Canadian travelers and establish Nepal as a premier adventure tourism destination. Discussions during the event revolved around various strategies to enhance Nepal’s visibility in the Canadian market, emphasizing the country’s iconic mountains, valleys, national parks, and cultural sites.

Mr. Samir Pandey highlighted that this initiative is a crucial step in elevating Nepal’s international tourism profile, not only drawing in Canadian tourists but also fostering business collaborations, particularly in the trekking and adventure tourism sectors. Likewise, TAAN President Mr. Sagar Pandey emphasized that the partnership would focus on joint marketing efforts in Canada, targeting adventure-loving Canadian travelers by promoting trekking, mountaineering, and wildlife experiences.
Both organizations committed to organizing promotional events, including travel fairs and seminars in Canada, to engage potential tourists and travel agencies directly. Additionally, they explored the feasibility of creating joint tour packages, making it easier for Canadian visitors to experience Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings. These packages would feature trekking in the Himalayas, cultural tours in Kathmandu Valley, and eco-tourism activities, catering to a wide range of travelers.
The MoU also underscores the importance of digital marketing in broadening outreach. Through social media campaigns, online travel platforms, and travel blogs, the collaboration aims to enhance Nepal’s appeal in the Canadian tourism market. TAAN will provide necessary promotional materials, while ANCC will take the lead in organizing marketing events in various Canadian cities.

Furthermore, both organizations plan to conduct joint research initiatives to ensure the safety and well-being of Canadian tourists visiting Nepal’s trekking destinations. Dr. Pashupati Neupane emphasized the role of academic and research-based collaborations in strengthening Nepal’s tourism industry. He also suggested that educational institutions and tourism stakeholders work together to develop sustainable tourism programs that benefit both local communities and international travelers.
This collaboration comes at a crucial time as Nepal’s tourism industry continues its recovery from the global disruptions caused by the pandemic. Canada, with its strong travel ties to Nepal and a significant Nepalese diaspora, presents a promising market for tourism growth. By increasing Canadian tourist inflow, this partnership also aims to boost investment in Nepal’s tourism infrastructure and generate more employment opportunities in local communities.
The agreement between ANCC and TAAN signifies a new era in Nepal’s tourism promotion, leveraging international business networks and academic institutions to position Nepal as a world-class travel destination. With a shared commitment to sustainable tourism growth, this partnership is set to strengthen Nepal’s presence in the global tourism industry and contribute to long-term economic development.

By promoting Nepal’s tourism in Canada, this collaboration aims to not only boost the number of tourists but also increase investment opportunities in the tourism sector, enhancing infrastructure and creating more job opportunities for local communities in Nepal.
The agreement also highlights the shared goal of making Nepal a world-renowned travel destination. The agreement between ANCC and TAAN marks the beginning of a new chapter in Nepal’s tourism marketing efforts, with a special focus on attracting Canadian tourists.
By leveraging Nepal’s unique offerings of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure tourism, this partnership aims to enhance Nepal’s standing as one of the world’s premier travel destinations.
