Bandipur to Celebrate ‘Bandipur Visit Year 2025’ for Tourism Promotion

Bandipur, often referred to as the “Queen of the Hills,” is set to host ‘Bandipur Visit Year 2025’ to boost tourism, enhance the destination’s identity, and stimulate economic activities. The announcement was made during a press conference held in Kathmandu today by Bandipur Rural Municipality.

Chairperson of Bandipur Rural Municipality, Surendra Bahadur Thapa, stated that the initiative aims to preserve natural and cultural heritage while promoting responsible tourism activities. He said, “The event is envisioned to develop a prosperous and cultured Bandipur through responsible tourism, with the goal of attracting 200,000 visitors annually.”

To ensure the success of the campaign, a 21-member Visit Year Secretariat has been formed under the coordination of tourism entrepreneur Baish Gurung. According to Gurung, the campaign aims to double the number of tourists by promoting Bandipur domestically and internationally. “We plan to attract 100,000 domestic and 100,000 international tourists during the Visit Year,” Gurung said. “By using this year as a foundation, we aim to bring 800,000 tourists to Bandipur annually within the next three years.”

The campaign targets an average tourist stay of three days. Additionally, the daily spending of international tourists is expected to reach USD 75, while that of Nepali tourists is projected at NPR 3,000. Currently, Bandipur has 75 hotels and 4 homestays, with a total of 120 hotels and 12 homestays in the entire municipality, accommodating up to 1,700 tourists daily.

Tourism expert and Chairperson of Heritage Nepal, Harisingh Gurung, highlighted plans to promote cultural, religious, and rural tourism circuits, alongside seasonal packages tailored for tourists. The initiative also aims to boost public participation under themes like “Earn in the Village, Enjoy in the Village” and focus on environmental conservation.

The estimated cost of implementing Bandipur Visit Year 2025 is NPR 44.35 million. The campaign seeks to not only attract visitors but also preserve the region’s cultural heritage, offering sustainable and engaging tourism experiences.
