The Commission established to address the challenges faced by individuals displaced by Shuklaphanta National Park in 2081 has officially submitted its report to the Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri. The report was handed over by Commission Chair Jayanand Paneru during a formal meeting at the minister’s office.
Formed by the Cabinet on September 18, the Commission was given a three-month mandate to formulate its working procedures and assess the situation of displaced individuals. The panel comprises key officials, including Kanchanpur’s Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Sapkota, Chief Revenue Officer of the Land Reform and Revenue Office Laxman Bahadur Kathayat, Chief Survey Officer of the Survey Office Kishan Singh Bist, and Divisional Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office Rambichari Thakur. Additionally, Manoj Kumar Shah, the senior conservation officer at Shuklaphanta National Park, serves as the Commission’s member-secretary.
The Commission commenced its operations on September 23 and has now completed its assigned tasks, submitting a detailed report along with its recommendations to the government for further action.
