Devotees Flock to Devighat in Nuwakot for Haribodhini Ekadashi Festival

The sacred pilgrimage site of Devighat, located in Bidur Municipality-5, saw thousands of devotees gathering to mark the auspicious occasion of Haribodhini Ekadashi (Thulo Ekadashi) on Tuesday.

Since Monday evening, more than 10,000 devotees have visited Devighat for various religious rituals, including the holy Trishuli Ganga bath, worship at the Jalapa Devi temple, and lighting ceremonial lamps and Madi fires. Devotees also participated in floral offerings, canopy-raising, and archway decorations, according to Ranbahadur Chitrakar, the temple priest.

A procession of over 100 chariots, floral offerings, and canopies arrived at the confluence of the Tadi and Trishuli Rivers from various districts. Floral palanquins, brought to the temple the previous day, were offered overnight prayers before being ceremoniously carried across the Trishuli River at sunrise, explained Navin Chitrakar, president of the Devighat-Jalapa Club.

In addition to Devighat, fairs, and festivities also took place at significant pilgrimage sites, including the sacred confluence at Uttargaya Dham Betrawati, as well as at the temples of Dupcheshwor Mahadev and Fikuri in Kispang, marking this revered occasion for people from Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and beyond.
