Empowering Local Leaders: Mustang District Holds Climate Awareness Program for Sustainable Development

On Kartik 30, 2081, the Gas S Association District Branch of Mustang organized an enlightening awareness program under the Gandaki Watershed Climate Resilience Project, managed by the National Nature Conservation Fund. The program, facilitated by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project and the Jomsom Area Conservation Office, aimed to strengthen local governance in addressing climate change challenges.

The event brought together local representatives from the Gharapjhong Municipality, officials from the Conservation Area Management Committees, members of local women’s groups, and other key stakeholders for an in-depth discussion on climate change and its local impact. Participants discussed the current state of climate change, the challenges faced by the region, and the essential policy measures that local governments need to adopt and implement.

A key focus of the program was sharing successful initiatives in climate adaptation that have been implemented in the region. The session was an excellent opportunity for all involved to collaborate and exchange knowledge, empowering local representatives to take proactive steps towards climate resilience in Mustang. This initiative marks a significant step in fostering a sustainable future for the community and the environment.
