French Ambassador Visits NTB Gandaki for Annapurna Day Diamond Jubilee Discussions

The Excellency of her The French Republic’s ambassador, Ms. Virginie Corvetal, made a historic stop at the Nepal Tourism Board’s Gandaki Province Office in Pokhara to talk about the approaching 75th anniversary of Annapurna Day. The occasion represents a major turning point in both the longstanding relationships between France and Nepal and the history of mountaineering.

Plans for the diamond jubilee celebration in Gandaki Province were the subject of casual conversations during the visit. The main goal was to pay tribute to the memory of the late Maurice Herzog, a trailblazing French mountaineer who in 1950 became the first person to scale Annapurna I, an 8,000-meter peak. Climbers and adventurers around the world are still motivated by this incredible accomplishment.

The Nepal Tourism Board, Gandaki Province Office, and the wider tourism fraternity extended heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency for her proactive engagement. They expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts to make the 75th-anniversary celebration a grand success.

This historic event is expected to highlight the cultural and mountaineering heritage of Nepal while strengthening international relations, particularly with France. The diamond jubilee of Annapurna Day serves as a tribute to the spirit of exploration and the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
