A guide has tragically died, and two others, including a foreign tourist, have been injured in a rhinoceros attack within the Dalla Community Forest, located in the buffer zone of Bardiya National Park.
The incident occurred early this morning in Madhuban Municipality-1 when a one-horned rhino charged at the group while they were observing wildlife. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old nature guide Man Mohan Chaudhary, a resident of Thakurbaba Municipality-9 in Bardiya district. According to Min Thapa, Chairman of Madhuban Municipality Ward No. 1, Chaudhary died on the spot.
The injured individuals include 56-year-old American tourist MC Lyndon Shawn and 58-year-old forest security guard Khinchu Chaudhary. The rhino inflicted injuries to the guide’s abdomen and struck the tourist on his buttocks. Shawn is currently receiving treatment at Thakurbaba City Hospital in Bhurigaon, where his condition is described as moderate. The forest guard is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities are investigating the incident further.
