The orientation programme mainly focused on encouraging star hotels, guest houses, and resorts within Kathmandu Valley that have not yet registered in the FNMIS system to complete the registration process.

Participants were also briefed on:

He mentioned that more than 40 percent of tourists revisit Nepal, reflecting the strength of the country’s tourism experience and hospitality services.
Ghimire also emphasized the important role played by hotels, resorts, and homestays in Nepal’s tourism development and noted that the tourism industry has expanded through close cooperation between the government and the private sector.

FNMIS Expected to Enhance Tourist Experience and Service Standards
Officials expressed confidence that effective implementation of the FNMIS system will make tourist travel in Nepal safer while also improving the quality and efficiency of service delivery. The Department of Immigration urged all tourism-related institutions to integrate into the FNMIS system to ensure systematic and trustworthy management of foreign tourist information. Authorities believe the digital system will contribute to stronger coordination among tourism stakeholders and help modernize Nepal’s tourism management infrastructure.
The orientation programme on the Foreign Nationals Management Information System marks another step toward digitizing and strengthening Nepal’s tourism management and security systems. By integrating hotels, travel agencies, airlines, and tourism institutions into a unified information network, the government aims to create a safer, more organized, and higher-quality tourism experience for international visitors.
