Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, emphasized the vital role of the tourism sector as a foundation for Nepal’s prosperity during the inauguration ceremony of the 11th Tarebhir Festival today.
Speaking at the event, Minister Dahal noted Nepal’s position as an attractive destination for international tourists and its potential to generate significant foreign currency revenue. He affirmed the government’s commitment to developing roads and infrastructure to connect unique tourist destinations, thereby strengthening the rural economy.
On this occasion, the detailed project report (DPR) for the Tarebhir Ring Road was presented to Minister Dahal by local representatives. The completion of this ring road is expected to enhance the lives of residents in dozens of rural settlements around Kathmandu and stimulate economic activities, stated former Bagmati Province Infrastructure Minister Rameshwar Phuyal.
The festival showcased cultural performances from various communities, along with exhibitions of local products and traditional artifacts. Organized annually since 2070 B.S., the Tarebhir Festival aims to promote domestic tourism and celebrate local heritage.
This year’s event underscored the potential for sustainable development through enhanced infrastructure, which could significantly boost both rural livelihoods and the broader tourism sector.
