Election Security Remains Top Priority

The administration emphasized that the measure is aimed at ensuring a safe and secure environment for the upcoming elections. “Considering the security arrangements for the upcoming House of Representatives election, 2082, all nighttime businesses in Kathmandu district shall operate only until 9:00 PM from Falgun 18, 2082, until further notice. After that, all businesses must close,” the official notice stated.

Impact on Business Owners and Nightlife

The decision affects a wide range of establishments in Kathmandu that typically operate late into the night. Business owners have been urged to comply with the directive to avoid penalties or legal action. While the measure may temporarily disrupt nightlife activities, authorities insist that it is essential to maintain public safety and prevent election-related disturbances.

Authorities Urge Cooperation

District officials have called on all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the directive, ensuring that the temporary closure of nighttime businesses does not lead to conflicts or violations. The administration stated that the measure is temporary and linked directly to election security, reassuring the public that normal operations will resume once the elections are concluded and security risks are deemed minimal.
