Khokhedanda, located in Ward No. 1 of Modi Rural Municipality, Jhilibarang, Parbat, is gaining popularity as a new tourist destination. Perched at an elevation of 3,309 meters above sea level, the site offers spectacular mountain views, drawing visitors eager to see the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and more.
Just a half-hour trek from the well-known tourist site of Mohore Danda in the neighboring Myagdi district, Khokhedanda provides stunning views of sunrise, sunset, and panoramic landscapes. From this vantage point, visitors can see the districts of Parbat, Kaski, Syangja, Baglung, Myagdi, Lamjung, and Tanahun. Standing at a higher elevation than Myagdi’s famed Poon Hill, Khokhedanda offers unique perspectives and a serene, less-crowded experience.
Local entrepreneur Lekh Bahadur Gurung, who has been active in the tourism sector for years, has established a cottage at Khokhedanda, providing accommodations to visitors. Gurung has noted the need for the installation of Nepal Telecom or Ncell tower, electrification, and better trekking paths to enhance the visitor experience. The cottage offers overnight stays to Nepali visitors for NPR 1,500 per night.
Adding to the area’s charm, flags representing 30 different countries have been displayed at Khokhedanda. There are three main routes to reach the destination:
- From Nayapul in Kaski through Ulleri and Banthanti, a 4-5 hour trek is required.
- From Patichaur in Parbat, travelers can drive to Bajung, Kyang, and Lespar before embarking on a 6-7 hour trek.
- From Milan Chowk in Jaljala Rural Municipality, Parbat, visitors can drive up to Shalija and Hampal and then trek for approximately three hours.
For the current fiscal year, the Gandaki Province government has allocated NPR 1 million to construct trekking paths to Khokhedanda, as confirmed by Tek Bahadur Gurung, Ward Chairperson of Bhuktangle in Modi Rural Municipality.
Visitors to Khokhedanda can also experience the local homestays available at Lapsibot, Bhukdeural, and Tangle in Ward No. 1 and at Lespar in Ward No. 4. This expansion of homestays offers tourists an immersive experience into the local lifestyle and culture, enriching their visit to this emerging destination.
