870 Climbers from 70 Countries Obtain Permits for Autumn Climbing Season in Nepal

In the autumn season, 870 climbers from 70 countries, including Nepal, have received permits to climb various peaks. According to Nepal’s Department of Tourism, a total of 111 groups – consisting of 202 women and 668 men – have been granted climbing permits for 37 different mountains this season.

The government has collected a royalty revenue of NPR 63.57 million from these mountaineering permits, as reported by Rakesh Gurung, Director of the Department of Tourism. He stated that the autumn climbing season is nearing its final phase.

Director Gurung also noted that the climbs of peaks such as Manaslu and Himlung have concluded, while expeditions on peaks like Ama Dablam are still ongoing. He mentioned that a few small groups of climbers continue to arrive, with only a handful expected to seek permits in the coming days.

As in previous years, Manaslu (8,163 meters) remains the most popular peak, with 308 climbers from 28 teams securing permits. Ama Dablam has attracted 158 climbers from 14 teams, Himlung 124 climbers from 10 teams, Dhaulagiri has one team of 14 climbers, and Makalu has one team with two climbers.

The autumn season continues to bring climbers from around the world, contributing to Nepal’s tourism and supporting the local economy through mountaineering.
