As part of its major tourism initiative, the Koshi Provincial Government has officially unveiled the main slogan, logo, and mascot for the much-anticipated “Koshi Tourism Year 2082.” The campaign is being promoted under the motto: “Glory of Koshi, Pride of Himalayas, Respect for Everyone in Tourism Year.”
The logo, launched on Wednesday by Minister for Tourism, Forest, and Environment Sadananda Mandal, artistically highlights key attractions of the province including the Arna (wild water buffalo), the majestic Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), Himalayan peaks, the fertile plains of the Terai, the Koshi River, and the rich biodiversity unique to Koshi Tappu. The national flag is also integrated into the design to symbolize unity and pride.
A major highlight of the unveiling was the introduction of the tourism mascot the Red Panda, an endangered species found in the Himalayan region of Koshi Province. The mascot was revealed by Ministry Secretary Bishal Ghimire, who emphasized its ecological and cultural significance.

The official inauguration of Koshi Tourism Year 2082 is scheduled for Chaitra 27 (April 9) in the scenic Tinjure region of Tehrathum district. The event will be graced by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, underscoring the national importance of the provincial campaign.

To support this ambitious tourism drive, the government has allocated Rs 100 million for tourism development in the fiscal year 2081/82. The province is actively working to enhance its appeal by promoting major religious and cultural destinations such as Baraha Kshetra, Halesi Mahadev, Pathibhara Devi, and Ramdhuni. Plans are also underway to establish tourism information centers at four key border points with India to accommodate and guide inbound tourists.

Koshi Province currently features 14 key tourist destinations, with 16 new locations identified for future development. To support the expected influx of visitors, the province boasts 12 star-level hotels, 36 tourist-grade hotels, 105 registered homestays, and numerous motels. Additionally, 71 travel agencies, 87 trekking guides, and 289 certified tour guides are operating in the region.
As part of tourism year activities, rafting will be promoted in four different river locations, adding an adventurous edge to the region’s tourism offerings. With its natural beauty, religious heritage, and growing infrastructure, Koshi Province is poised to become one of Nepal’s most vibrant tourism hubs during the 2082 campaign.
