Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has revealed that a 10-year action plan is being developed to achieve Nepal’s economic prosperity through the tourism sector. Speaking at the opening of the Second District Convention of the National Democratic Disabled Federation in Dhading, Minister Pandey shared that the plan is being created in coordination with the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Law Minister, and other relevant ministries associated with tourism.
Minister Pandey emphasized the importance of collaboration with the private sector for the development of the tourism industry, noting that the private sector’s involvement is vital to driving growth. He further highlighted that significant tourism infrastructure is being developed in Nepal, and opportunities to attract millions of tourists still exist. “We are actively working to invigorate our culture, tourism, and civil aviation sectors,” he said.
Pandey, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, commented on the coalition with the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) [CPN (UML)], stating that the alliance brings both opportunities and challenges. “There will be both cooperation and competition with UML,” he explained. “The alliance with UML is aimed at ensuring good governance, reducing corruption, and providing stability to the government, both in governance and in elections.”
This announcement marks a significant step in Nepal’s long-term vision for tourism development, aiming to harness the sector’s potential to drive the nation’s economic growth.
