Monsoon Conditions Bring Widespread Rain Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Some Regions

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average location, impacting the entire country with monsoon winds. Additionally, a low-pressure system in northwestern Madhya Pradesh, India, is influencing the weather conditions in Nepal.

Currently, the Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing cloudy to overcast conditions, while the rest of the country sees partial to moderate cloud cover. Some areas in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim are witnessing light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The department has forecasted that during the day, Karnali and Sudurpaschim will continue to have cloudy to overcast skies, with partial to moderate cloud cover in other provinces. There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy rainfall, including thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected in one or two hilly areas of these provinces, with very heavy rainfall anticipated in some locations within Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim.

For the night, Sudurpaschim province will remain cloudy, while other provinces will experience partial to moderate cloud cover. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in several parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. A few areas in Karnali and Sudurpaschim may see heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Over the next 24 hours, the department warns of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. One or two hilly areas in these provinces may experience heavy rain with gusty winds, while very heavy rainfall is also possible in some locations of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim. The department has urged everyone to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against potential weather-related hazards.
