Myanmar has officially commenced commercial flight operations from the newly constructed Anisakan Airport, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity. The airport welcomed its first scheduled commercial services on Saturday, July 11, with multiple domestic routes linking key destinations across the country. The launch is expected to improve accessibility to the Anisakan region while supporting tourism, trade, and economic development through enhanced domestic air connectivity.
Myanmar National Airlines and Mingalar Aviation Launch Initial Routes
On the first day of operations, Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) inaugurated its Yangon–Heho–Anisakan–Nay Pyi Taw–Yangon route, providing passengers with improved connectivity between Myanmar’s commercial capital, administrative capital, and central regions.
Meanwhile, Mingalar Aviation introduced its Yangon–Tachileik–Anisakan–Yangon service, creating a new air link between eastern Myanmar and the newly opened airport. The commencement of these routes marks the beginning of regular commercial operations at Anisakan Airport and is expected to boost passenger movement across the country.
Airport to Connect Five Major Domestic Destinations
Anisakan Airport will provide direct air services connecting passengers with Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Heho, and Tachileik, significantly improving domestic travel options and reducing travel time between major cities and regional destinations. The expanded network is expected to facilitate business travel, promote tourism, and improve access for local communities.
Four Airlines to Operate Regular Weekly Services
Beginning July 11, four domestic carriers, Myanmar National Airlines, Mingalar Aviation, Air Thanlwin, and Mann Yatanarpon Airlines, will operate scheduled services from Anisakan Airport. According to the flight schedule, regular operations will be available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, ensuring consistent connectivity between Anisakan and major cities across Myanmar.
The opening of Anisakan Airport represents another step in its efforts to strengthen its domestic aviation network, improve regional transportation infrastructure, and support the country’s growing tourism and economic sectors through enhanced air connectivity.
