NATTA Marks 46th World Tourism Day with 14th Blood Donation Program

The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) marked the 46th World Tourism Day on 28th September 2025 with a program that went beyond the traditional celebrations. Instead of only focusing on formal gatherings or discussions, NATTA organized its 14th Blood Donation Program at its Secretariat in Goma-Ganesh, Gairidhara, Naxal, Kathmandu. The initiative reflected the deeper values of tourism, compassion, care, and service to the community, showing that tourism is not just about travel and hospitality, but also about responsibility towards society.

Participation and Support

Supported by Kathmandu Holiday Tours & Travel Pvt. Ltd., the program drew enthusiastic participation from NATTA members, tourism entrepreneurs, well-wishers, and volunteers. In total, 25 pints of blood were collected, marking a successful outcome that could help save many lives. For an industry often viewed only through the lens of travel, leisure, and business, the program highlighted tourism’s deeper values of compassion, care, and community service.

The event welcomed tour operators, travel agents, hospitality stakeholders, and well-wishers who stood together in support of this humanitarian cause. Visitors and participants expressed that such initiatives demonstrate how the tourism sector can directly engage with communities, leaving a lasting impact beyond travel and leisure.

Linking Tourism with Humanity

World Tourism Day 2025 was observed globally under the theme of “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” Aligning with this spirit, NATTA chose blood donation as a meaningful way to highlight sustainability not just in economic or environmental terms, but also in social contribution. Blood donation saves lives, and NATTA’s effort demonstrated how the tourism sector can integrate social welfare into its broader mission.

A President’s Reflection

Speaking on the occasion, NATTA President Mr. Kumar Mani Thapaliya emphasized that tourism is not only about promoting destinations or bringing in foreign exchange, but also about creating value for people. He noted, “Tourism is essentially about people-to-people connection. By donating blood, we are not just saving lives but also showing the humanitarian side of tourism. Today’s event sends a strong message that our industry stands with the community in every possible way.” His words underscored the association’s commitment to both industry growth and social impact.

Leadership Perspective

Sharing her thoughts, Senior Vice President Ms. Jiswan Tuladhar Shrestha highlighted the importance of aligning tourism celebrations with activities that create tangible benefits. She remarked, “As leaders in the tourism sector, it is our duty to set examples that resonate beyond business. The blood donation program reflects our vision of sustainable transformation, where compassion and care form the foundation of progress. This initiative reaffirms that tourism thrives best when it uplifts both travelers and the local community.” Her statement highlighted the role of NATTA in promoting tourism that is inclusive, responsible, and forward-looking.

A Secretary’s Commitment

Meanwhile, NATTA Secretary Mr. Bishnu Pandey expressed gratitude to all participants and reiterated the organization’s ongoing dedication to community-centered initiatives. He said, “We are deeply thankful to every donor, partner, and visitor who joined hands with us today. Their contribution has given real meaning to World Tourism Day 2025. Going forward, NATTA will continue to integrate such impactful activities into its calendar, ensuring that the essence of tourism goes hand in hand with service to humanity.” His words reinforced NATTA’s vision of weaving social commitment into its identity as Nepal’s leading tourism association.

Building Bridges Through Compassion

The 14th edition of the blood donation drive is a continuation of NATTA’s long-standing tradition of blending celebration with contribution. Over the years, the association has organized various socially driven events alongside its professional efforts in promoting Nepal’s tourism industry. This balance reflects the essence of Nepal itself, warm, welcoming, and deeply rooted in cultural values of generosity.

Global Significance

Tourism is often highlighted as one of the strongest drivers of economic development worldwide, but it also plays a role in shaping societies. By celebrating World Tourism Day through a humanitarian act, NATTA set an example for tourism bodies not just in Nepal but also across the globe. The program highlighted how tourism organizations can use their platforms to address social needs, bring together diverse communities, and make celebrations more meaningful.

Looking Ahead

With Nepal witnessing a steady recovery in tourist arrivals after the pandemic years, NATTA’s proactive initiatives signal a new era of sustainable and responsible tourism. Programs like these strengthen the industry’s credibility, build public trust, and inspire both domestic and international stakeholders. As NATTA continues to blend business goals with humanitarian values, its role as a leading voice in shaping Nepal’s tourism future remains undeniable.

The 46th World Tourism Day celebration organized by NATTA through its 14th Blood Donation Program was more than just a symbolic act; it was a declaration of the industry’s values. With over 25 donors contributing to this life-saving cause, and with the leadership of its executives reinforcing the importance of compassion in tourism, the day marked a milestone in how Nepal’s tourism sector perceives and practices sustainability.
