Nepal-China 70th Anniversary: Celebrating Strong Cultural and Economic Ties

To mark the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, the event “Material and Cultural-Ethical Advancement” was organized by Friends on the Cloud: Platform of Influencers, Nepal.

The program explored economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties between the two nations, emphasizing China’s cultural ethics and lessons Nepal can learn from China’s rapid development.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, highlighted the global impact of President Xi Jinping’s cultural philosophy, stating that its openness and inclusiveness contribute to human civilization and international stability. He stressed that these cultural principles not only belong to China but also benefit the world by promoting harmony, coexistence, and shared values.

The ambassador outlined three key principles shaping China’s cultural development:
i. Culture as a foundation for socialist progress.
ii. The global significance of Xi’s thoughts on culture.
iii. Strengthening Nepal-China cultural exchanges for sustainable development.

The event also featured 20 photographs showcasing key Nepal-China moments, including the Dragon Boat Festival, President Xi’s Nepal visit, and cultural exchanges, reinforcing growing diplomatic ties.

Prof. Atul Koirala emphasized the need to leverage tourism for economic growth, urging Nepal to capitalize on “Visit Nepal 2025,” as recently highlighted by China. He also pointed to China’s success in technological advancements, suggesting Nepal could learn from its development strategies.

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, stressed the integration of material and cultural-ethical advancements for national progress. He advocated for linking economic, tourism, and technological growth with cultural values. The discussions concluded by reaffirming sustainable development, cultural and economic exchanges, and mutual appreciation as key to strengthening Nepal-China relations in the years ahead.
