The Nepal Mountain Academy successfully concluded its inaugural Mountain Bike Guide Training program, which began on Poush 19 and concluded on Magh 9. The training was conducted at the Central Department of Population Studies, Tribhuvan University.
According to the program coordinator, Dolma Lama, the training was organized to establish Nepal as a premier mountain biking destination and create employment opportunities in the adventure tourism sector. Out of 30 applicants, 24 participants were selected through interviews, prioritizing individuals with skills and a strong interest in the adventure tourism field.
The training covered a wide range of topics, including an introduction to mountain biking, traditions, trends, and standards of mountain bike guiding, professional risk management techniques, basic and advanced mountain bike handling skills, mechanical knowledge, cycling tour leadership, route diversity, planning and navigation, safety and emergency management, sustainable tourism approaches, water, sanitation, and hygiene, and preparing cycling tour package reports.
At the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to the participants by Bagmati Province’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Bimal Thakuri. This training initiative is expected to significantly contribute to Nepal’s adventure tourism landscape by fostering skilled professionals in the mountain biking sector.
