Nepal’s tourism was actively promoted in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, China, as part of two major travel events organized by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter. Responding to an invitation to the Guangzhou International Travel Fair, Nepal participated in the event on December 1, 2024, followed by the Nepal-India-China Expo (NICE) Roadshow on December 3, 2024, in Shenzhen.
Over 250 outbound tour operators and media representatives attended the events, where Nepal’s tourism potential and the upcoming NICE 2025 event, scheduled for February 24 to March 8 in Pokhara, were highlighted.
Khem Lakai, Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter, CEO Suresh Singh Budal, and goodwill ambassador for NICE 2025, Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, presented Nepal’s rich tourism prospects. They emphasized Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and vast opportunities for tourism development and invited Chinese tour operators to actively participate in NICE 2025.
Chairman Lakai expressed optimism about the Chinese government’s support for “Visit Nepal Year 2025,” which was officially announced during Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China. He underlined that NICE 2025 would be pivotal in achieving the objectives of this campaign and extended an invitation to Chinese tour operators to witness Nepal’s unparalleled attractions.
So far, over 200 buyers from China and India have registered for NICE 2025. PATA Nepal noted that the roadshow played a vital role in expanding outreach to Chinese outbound tour operators and fostering interest in Nepal as a destination. These efforts underscore Nepal’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the Chinese tourism market and leveraging events like NICE 2025 to boost international tourism arrivals.
