Nepalgunj Kora Promotes Religious Tourism Through Cycling

A cycling event aimed at identifying and promoting religious and tourism destinations in the region, ‘Nepalgunj Kora,’ was organized in Nepalgunj on Saturday.

Organized by the Nepalgunj Cycling Club, the event brought together more than 100 cyclists. According to club Joint Secretary Bishnu Kandel, this year’s Kora featured three different routes covering 25 kilometers, 50 kilometers, and 100 kilometers.

The 25-kilometer route was guided by Ajay KC and Prakash Bista, while Aaryan Bahun and Ashok Dixit were responsible for guiding participants on the 50-kilometer route. The 100-kilometer route was led by Dinesh Thapa and Baburam Bishwokarma, according to club Treasurer Rajesh Kumar Gupta.

Cycling Route Connects Religious and Cultural Sites

The cycling journey began from the Buddhist Monastery in Ganeshpur, Nepalgunj. The cyclists then passed through Eklainee Jama Masjid, Charbahini Chowk, and Ganeshman Chowk before reaching Bheri Technical Chowk.

Kora Ride Cycling Challenge

The route continued westward, passing by Jyoti Church and heading towards the Gurdwara. From there, the cyclists travelled through Dhamboji, Phultekra, Uraiyani, and Ghiagaun before reaching Betani. The event provided participants with an opportunity to explore and experience the religious, cultural, and scenic attractions located across the region.

100-Kilometre Route Extends Across Banke

Participants taking part in the 100-kilometer route continued their journey through several destinations in Banke district. According to Joint Secretary Kandel, the cyclists travelled through Sidhania Ghat, Fatehpur, Binauna, Baijapur, Ghur, and Bhawaniyapur Temple.

The route then continued through Shamshergunj, Zero, Kachanapur village, Shamshergunj Bazaar, Dhakeri, and Kohalpur, before the cyclists returned to Nepalgunj.

The Nepalgunj Kora is expected to contribute to the promotion of religious, cultural, and community-based tourism by connecting various heritage and religious sites through cycling. The event also highlighted the potential of cycling tourism as a sustainable and adventure-based means of exploring destinations in the region.
