In a significant development for the Gandaki Province, four newly appointed ministers took their oath of office and secrecy today, with a strong focus on enhancing tourism, industry, and infrastructure in the region. The ceremony, held at the Nepal Tourism Board’s meeting hall in Pokhara, was presided over by Province Chief Dilli Raj Bhatta.
Among the newly appointed ministers is Mitralal Basyal, who has taken on the crucial portfolio of Industry and Tourism. His appointment comes at a time when Gandaki Province is prioritizing the revitalization of its tourism sector, which has been impacted by global challenges in recent years. Basyal’s leadership is expected to bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to promote the province’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and adventure tourism potential.
Joining him in the newly formed cabinet are Padma GC Shrestha, Minister for Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives; Krishna Prasad Pathak, Minister for Health; and Prakash Bahadur KC, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management. Their collective efforts will be pivotal in driving the province’s overall development, with a particular emphasis on sustainable tourism, efficient infrastructure, and improved public health.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by key provincial leaders, including Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey and Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital, along with other ministers and senior government officials. The event underscored the province’s commitment to enhancing its tourism offerings and infrastructure, aiming to attract more visitors and boost the local economy.
With Mitralal Basyal at the helm of the Industry and Tourism Ministry, the Gandaki Province is poised to further establish itself as a premier destination for both domestic and international tourists, capitalizing on its diverse attractions such as the Annapurna Circuit, Phewa Lake, and the cultural richness of Pokhara.
