NMA To Convenes 35th AGM

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has officially announced the convening of its 35th Central Annual General Meeting, a pivotal event that will set the course for the upcoming fiscal year and review the association’s annual performance. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 10th October 2025 (24th Ashwin, 2082), commencing at 12:00 PM noon.

The prestigious gathering will be held at the Silver Oak Banquet & Events Center in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. In a formal notice issued from its headquarters in Nagpokhari, Naxal, the NMA has extended a heartfelt request to all its general members to be present and participate in the democratic processes of the association.

A Crucial Agenda for the Mountaineering Community

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a cornerstone of the NMA’s governance, providing a platform for transparency, accountability, and collective decision-making. The agenda for the 35th AGM outlines several critical points of discussion that are vital for the association’s strategic direction.

The primary order of business will be the presentation of the Progress Report for the Fiscal Year 2081/082 by the General Secretary on behalf of the Central Working Committee. This comprehensive document will detail the NMA’s achievements, ongoing projects, and challenges faced over the past year in promoting mountaineering, ensuring mountain safety, and supporting the climbing community in Nepal. Following the presentation, the floor will be open for discussion, debate, and the formal approval of the report by the members.

Subsequently, the General Secretary will present the Policy and Programme for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2082/083. This forward-looking plan will outline the NMA’s vision, key initiatives, and strategic goals for the next twelve months, which will then be subject to member deliberation and endorsement.

Financial Scrutiny and Future Budgeting

Financial integrity and planning form the second major pillar of the AGM. The Treasurer of the Central Working Committee will present the Audited Financial Report for the Fiscal Year 2081/082. This audited statement is a crucial tool for ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency, detailing the association’s income and expenditures. Members will have the opportunity to scrutinize the report before its formal approval.

Perhaps one of the most significant discussions will center on the Proposed Budget (Estimated Income and Expenditure Statement) for the Fiscal Year 2082/083. This budget will allocate resources for the NMA’s planned activities, including training programs for aspiring mountaineers, mountain clean-up campaigns, infrastructure development in mountain regions, and administrative operations. Its approval is essential for the association to function effectively in the coming year.

Administrative Appointments and Housekeeping

In line with standard corporate governance practices, the AGM will also address key administrative appointments. The assembly will be tasked with the appointment of an Auditor for the Fiscal Year 2082/083. The selection of a competent and independent auditor is fundamental to maintaining financial credibility.

Furthermore, to ensure the official record of the meeting is accurate, the assembly will select two representatives to certify the minutes of the 35th Annual General Meeting. The agenda also includes a segment for Miscellaneous Items, allowing members to raise new issues or concerns not covered in the pre-circulated agenda.

Important Notices for Participating Members

The NMA has issued specific notices to ensure a smooth and orderly meeting. Firstly, it is mandatory for all attending members to bring their NMA-issued identity cards for verification at the venue. This measure is in place to secure the proceedings and confirm voter eligibility.

Secondly, a critical deadline has been set for membership renewal. Only those general members who have renewed their membership for the current cycle by 1:00 PM on 10th October 2025 (24th Ashwin, 2082) will be eligible to participate in the discussions and voting processes of the AGM. This underscores the importance of maintaining an active membership status.

To promote transparency and informed discussion, the NMA has made the Progress Report and the Audited Financial Report accessible to members prior to the meeting. These documents can be collected physically from the NMA Secretariat in Naxal.

The 35th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Mountaineering Association represents a significant moment for Nepal’s climbing fraternity. The decisions made and the directions set during this meeting will profoundly impact the association’s role in safeguarding the interests of mountaineers, promoting sustainable mountain tourism, and upholding Nepal’s legacy as a world-renowned mountaineering destination.
