Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism of Madhesh Province, Shakil Mia, assured that there are no obstacles to the movement of tourist vehicles in Madhesh Province. He made this statement on Saturday during an interaction program on “The Role of Tourists in Tourism Safety and Promotion,” organized by the Tourist Police Office Bhirkutimandap in collaboration with the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, Parsa.
Addressing concerns about challenges faced by vehicles carrying Indian tourists, Minister Mia clarified that such issues are baseless rumors aimed at creating confusion. He emphasized that Madhesh Province, being connected to the Indian border, has immense potential for tourism development. He added that the provincial government, in coordination with the federal government, is working to identify, develop, and expand tourism sites in the region.
Lalmani Acharya, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) and Chief of Police in Madhesh Province, also assured that no deliberate obstruction occurs for Indian-numbered vehicles at the border. He acknowledged that while the open border poses occasional challenges, including criminal activities involving Indian cars, the authorities are vigilant to prevent any inconvenience to tourist vehicles. Acharya emphasized his personal monitoring efforts to ensure a smooth travel experience for tourists.
Hari Pant, President of the Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, Parsa, who chaired the event, highlighted the need to make Madhesh Province more tourism- and business-friendly. He suggested improving coordination among all three tiers of government to foster a welcoming environment for tourism and related businesses.
The program served as a platform for collaborative dialogue, aiming to address tourism challenges and unlock the potential of Madhesh Province as a preferred destination for domestic and international travelers.
